Open Heart Operating Room

Robert E. Black, MD
Dr. Black is from Dallas, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He studied medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His anesthesiology residency was completed at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME, followed by fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. He has been at Gwinnett Medical Center since 2012.

Stephen I. Kushins, MD
Dr. Kushins earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He then completed an anesthesiology residency and adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship at Duke University. He has since been an anesthesiologist at the Strickland Heart Center.

Wendy S. Moran, CNOR, RN
Moran earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y. A certified operating room nurse, Wendy has spent her entire career working in the field of heart surgery. Before helping to establish Gwinnett Medical Center’s open heart surgery program as its clinical manager, she managed 22 operating rooms at Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s Ronnie Green Heart Center in Gainesville.

Christopher R. Trocchio, CCP, LP
Christopher earned his Bachelor of Science degree in circulation technology from The Ohio State University. He has been a certified clinical perfusionist through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion since 1988. Christopher currently serves on the State of Georgia’s Perfusion Advisory Board and is Gwinnett Medical Center’s chief perfusionist. He is a published author with more than two decades of experience and is a positive and caring employee at the Strickland Heart Center.

Amit R. Yajnik, MD
Dr. Yajnik is from Columbia, SC. He earned his Bachelor’s in Economics from Emory University before attending medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Yajnik completed his internship and residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic.
